Icelandic Sheepdog Puppies

The Icelandic Sheepdog is Iceland's only native breed with a history dating back over 1,000 years to the Viking Age. Bred as an all purpose farm dog they are intelligent, cheerful and affectionate companions with a natural love for their families. At Shield Kennels our puppies are raised with Puppy Culture protocols to build confidence, social skills and strong foundations from the start. Our breeding dogs are health tested to help preserve the health, temperament and wonderful qualities of this treasured breed. The Yakutian Laika is an ancient Arctic breed from the Sakha Republic of Siberia, developed by the Yakut people for hunting, herding, pulling sleds and companionship. Known for their intelligence, loyalty and striking appearance, they are versatile working dogs with a strong bond to their families. We are dedicated to preserving the Yakutian Laika through health testing, thoughtful breeding and raising puppies with strong foundations. We are planning a possible litter toward the end of 2026.
